Accessory Pieces
Wooden train sets come complete with everything you need for whatever basic layout is included in the box. There are however some important accessory pieces that you may want to consider.

First and foremost is a product called SureTrack. SureTrack is a box of plastic clips that you can use to hold your tracks together more easily. This can eliminate a lot of frustration caused by collapses of elevated track. Let’s face it, our little ones are rarely as gentle with their toys as we’d like them to be. SureTrack lets you add a great deal of stability to your track without damaging any of the pieces using glue or fasteners.

Another consideration especially if you like making custom layouts would be to have many track splitters on hand in a variety of configurations. This will allow you to avoid bottlenecks in your layouts as well as having trains traveling around tracks that have no resemblance of any kind of realistic track layout. People don’t buy wooden trains for realism however, they buy them to have fun or for their children to have fun. Being able to create seemingly impossible track layouts is part of that fun. Do yourself a favor and pick up a wide variety of track splitters.
There are of course a myriad of completely unnecessary yet enjoyable accessory pieces available for wooden train sets. These can be a great way of adding some new fun to your child’s wooden trains without buying an entire train set.
