Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Railway Set

When Melissa & Doug made their Deluxe Wooden Railway Set they packed it full of features including two separate trains for your child to play with: A six car freight train and four piece passenger train. And these toy wooden trains will have plenty of places to go on the nearly 100 pieces of wooden track that are included with this set.

Also included are two separate bridges, a trestle bridge and a suspension bridge. If your child is anything like mine then bridges are one of the favorite features of any toy wooden train set, so having two separate bridges is a nice feature with the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Wooden Railway Set.

While I ordinarily praise toy wooden train sets for the ease with which any child can put them together, I should caution with a larger set such as this one that if your child wants to use one of the preset layout options included in the box, then you will likely have to help them set it up. There really is a lot included with this train set and it may be difficult for a child to keep everything organized during set up. I usually don’t need much of an excuse to jump in and start building layouts with my son however.

Other fun features include a cargo truck, two different kinds of cranes for loading cargo, an engine shed, and a five-way switch. Train engineers, trees and road signs are also included, which is fairly standard among many wooden train sets.

Something that I continue to appreciate about Melissa & Doug toy wooden train sets is that the sanding on the wood pieces is a bit better than some other brands out there and the prices are often better than similar Thomas & Friends train sets. So if you’d like a feature packed large wooden train set then the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Wooden Railway Set is definitely one to consider.
